Technology Transfer
The mission of the Interdisciplinary Center for Aquaculture Research – Applied Research, CIA-INCAR², is to drive innovation and transfer solutions through world-class scientific and technological research, fostering collaboration and interdisciplinarity to improve the sustainability and competitiveness of the aquaculture industry in Chile and support the country's development.
The complexity of these topics and INCAR²'s interdisciplinary perspective create a unique field for collaboration with emerging research groups in Chile focused on aquaculture, technologies, and innovation. Supporting emerging research groups is a crucial part of our center's strategy, offering significant benefits such as greater technological impact, potential access to new funding sources and markets, opportunities to complement human resources, and the incubation of new businesses such as aquaculture spin-offs and startups. As a result, INCAR² will strengthen its collaborative links, creating a hub of interdisciplinary excellence in aquaculture research in Chile. The following sections present the plan to enhance collaboration among emerging research groups in science and technology.
Programs
SFERA and INAH
Support Framework for Emergent Research Groups
What is it?
SFERA is a program for emerging research groups (ERGs) in aquaculture that face resource and networking barriers. It offers direct funding, access to INCAR² infrastructure, training, and networking opportunities with public and private stakeholders.
INCAR² Acceleration HUB
What is it?
INAH is the driving force behind the center's technology transfer, facilitating the flow of scientific advancements to industry and public agencies. It will focus on networking, intellectual property, business plans, and collaborative events.
Its primary function is to bridge the gap between scientific research and industrial application, facilitating the maturation, validation, and scaling of technologies developed by researchers associated with the center.
INAH will operate as a hub for convergence between science, industry, and entrepreneurship, integrating research capabilities, scientific infrastructure, specialized knowledge, and stakeholders from the productive sector.
SFERA – INAH Program
The SFERA – INAH will promote the generation of new technologies and knowledge, designed to strengthen national Emerging Research Groups (ERGs), facilitate their consolidation, and accelerate the development of innovative solutions relevant to the Chilean aquaculture industry.
The SFERA initiative will work jointly with the INCAR² Acceleration Hub (INAH) to promote scientific and technological innovation in aquaculture. INAH will act as a driving force to foster collaboration among emerging research groups in Chile.
General Objective
To support the scientific and technological advancement of national emerging research groups external to the Center, with the aim of developing science, technology, and innovative solutions in aquaculture.
Specific Objectives

Promote collaboration between INCAR² members and ERGs in areas aligned with the Center's objectives.

Provide financial support for scientific and technological research activities of ERGs through collaborative projects with INCAR².
- 03
Accelerate technology readiness levels (TRLs) by facilitating access to INCAR²'s infrastructure and specialized equipment.

Support the training and development of human capital within ERGs in areas related to INCAR²'s expertise.

Facilitate networking and collaboration between ERGs and stakeholders from the public and private sectors.
