Dr. Jorge Dresdner Cid

Biography

Dr. Jorge Dresdner Cid holds a Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences (1977), a Master's degree in Economics (1983), and a Ph.D. in Economics (1989) from Uppsala University, Sweden. He is currently a Full Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Concepción, Chile; an Associate Researcher in the Socioeconomic Impacts, Governance, and Market Dynamics research line of the Interdisciplinary Center for Aquaculture Research, Applied Research Division (CIA/ANID Center of Excellence); and a Senior Researcher in the international Environment for Development (EfD) network. He also serves as Associate Editor of Marine Resource Economics , a leading international journal specializing in marine resource research from an economic perspective. His research focuses on fisheries and aquaculture economics, as well as labor economics. He has worked on topics including the socioeconomic impacts of aquaculture in remote coastal regions of Chile, the effects of sea lice ( Caligus ) treatments on salmon production costs, the impact of the Infectious Salmon Anemia (ISA) crisis on international salmon prices, and the economic behavior of mussel seed collectors, among others. He is currently involved in a research project examining antimicrobial use in the Chilean salmon farming industry.
