Dr. Eduardo Hernández Miranda

Biography

Dr. Eduardo Hernández is a faculty member in the Department of Oceanography within the Faculty of Natural and Oceanographic Sciences at the University of Concepción, Chile. His research focuses on marine ecology, biodiversity, and population genetics in marine environments. Among his main research contributions are studies on the temporal and spatial dissimilarities of intertidal fish assemblages in the South Pacific Ocean, highlighting the influence of the El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO). He has also investigated genetic diversity and resilience in marine benthic populations, as well as the effects of natural disturbances on the genetic diversity and population structure of the toadfish Aphos porosus . In addition, his research on zooplankton communities and hydrodynamic conditions in a Patagonian channel used for aquaculture has emphasized the role of geomorphological features in shaping ecosystem dynamics. Dr. Hernández is a recognized contributor to the field of marine ecology, generating valuable knowledge for resource management and for understanding the effects of environmental change on marine ecosystems.
