Biography
Alberto Sandoval Concha is a Veterinarian and a PhD candidate in Microbiology at the University of Concepción. He has experience as a research and development assistant in microbiology, molecular biology, and biotechnology, encompassing the study of viral, bacterial, and parasitic infectious diseases, with a focus on aquatic systems.
He is currently a member of the Aquaculture Biotechnology and Genomics Laboratory (LBGA) at the Biotechnology Center of the University of Concepción, where he contributes to projects involving genomics of relevant pathogens, development of biocontrol strategies, and bioinformatic analysis of omics data for aquaculture. In this context, he is conducting his doctoral research in microbiology and aquatic genomics, aimed at elucidating the molecular mechanisms that regulate immune responses in fish and their interaction with pathogens of importance to aquaculture, such as Piscirickettsia salmonis. In addition, he collaborates in teaching and training activities at the University of Concepción.
