INCAR² Scientists to Discuss Salmon Health Challenges at InfoSALMON Event

Researchers from the INCAR² Center for Applied Research will present scientific advances addressing key health challenges in salmon farming during an InfoSALMON technical event on October 15 in Puerto Montt, Chile.

Dr. Patricio A. Díaz will discuss the analysis and monitoring of Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) and their implications for fish health and welfare during the marine production stage.

Meanwhile, Dr. Ruben Avendaño-Herrera, Deputy Director of INCAR² and professor at Universidad Andrés Bello, will present advances in the understanding of Tenacibaculum and strategies to control tenacibaculosis, an important bacterial disease affecting farmed fish.

The technical program will also examine sea lice (Caligus) and Salmonid Rickettsial Septicemia (SRS), with presentations by Dr. Felipe Reyes and Dr. Mario Caruffo of FAVET, Universidad de Chile.

Designed to strengthen the connection between scientific research and industry needs, the event will combine scientific evidence, technical discussion and case-based analysis to explore practical solutions for improving fish health management and the sustainability of salmon farming.
